Ben Way

Group Head of Macquarie Asset Management,
Member of Macquarie Group’s Executive Committee

Ben is Group Head of Macquarie Asset Management, a global specialist asset manager, and a member of Macquarie Group’s Executive Committee. Ben leads a team of more than 1,900 people managing over $US427.3 billion1 of assets on behalf of institutional and wholesale clients. Ben is based in Hong Kong.

Prior to taking on his current responsibilities in April 2021, Ben was Head of the Global Alternatives division in Macquarie Asset Management and the CEO of Macquarie Group in Asia. Ben has held several other senior positions across Macquarie since joining in 2006.

Ben was previously Chairman and CEO of Taiwan Broadband Communications and a management consultant with Bain & Company. Ben is the Chair of Good Financial, a fintech lending solution for migrant workers in Hong Kong. He is also a Fellow of the 2017 class of the Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

Leigh Harrison

Head of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets

Leigh is Head of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA). Based in London, he leads a team of more than 550 people globally and is focused on supporting the growth of the business across new sectors and markets. He is an active investment committee member for many of the division’s funds.

Leigh was previously the Head of EMEA for the division, where he was responsible for managing the team and overseeing investments in that region. In that role, Leigh successfully established new European infrastructure funds, oversaw the acquisition and divestment of numerous businesses, as well as acquired and developed new platforms.

Prior to his role as Head of EMEA, Leigh was the Global Chief Operating Officer for the division, where he worked closely with senior leadership on business development initiatives, global business strategy, and other strategic initiatives including M&A activity.

Leigh joined Macquarie in 2002 in Sydney, before relocating to London in 2003, where he was an integral part of a team which established Macquarie Asset Management’s first three European infrastructure funds and played a key role in a significant number of acquisitions for those funds.

Leigh is also a Board Member of Islington Giving, one of Macquarie Group’s charitable partners which focuses on contributing towards social challenges faced in the London borough of Islington.

Leigh holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from Macquarie University, Australia.

Frank Kwok

Head of Asia-Pacific, Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets

Frank is the Head of MIRA Asia-Pacific, based in Sydney. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing MIRA’s investments in the region, primarily in infrastructure.

Frank has been pivotal in MIRA’s growth in the region, including the establishment of Macquarie Asia Infrastructure Fund (MAIF), Macquarie Greater China Infrastructure Fund (MGCIF) and the Philippine Alliance for Infrastructure (PINAI).

Since joining Macquarie in 1997, Frank has worked in various offices across Asia-Pacific and has led investments across sectors including transportation, utilities, renewable energy and communication infrastructure.

Frank sits on the investment committees and boards of MIRA’s funds in the region including MAIF, PINAI, MGCIF, Macquarie SBI Infrastructure Fund (India) and Macquarie Australia Infrastructure Trust.

David Fass

Head of Americas, Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets

David is responsible for overseeing the asset management activities for MIRA across the Americas and sits on the investment committees of several of MIRA’s funds.

Prior to being appointed to this role in 2019, David was the Chief Executive Officer of Macquarie Group’s operations in EMEA.

David’s financial services career spans over 30 years with expertise founded in capital markets and advisory. He has had active involvement in emerging and frontier markets and takes a keen interest in the developing thematic of balancing growth opportunities with prudent risk management.

David’s career began on Wall Street at Paine Webber (UBS) and JPMorgan (Chase Manhattan Bank) before moving to London. In London he spent 11 years at Deutsche Bank where he held various senior management and client-facing roles, including European Head of Global Banking and was a member of the Global Banking Executive Committee.

In addition to his MIRA responsibilities, David is a member of Macquarie’s Americas Management Committee.

Elizabeth O’Leary

Head of Agriculture and Natural Assets

Elizabeth is responsible for managing investments across MIRA’s Agriculture platform. In this role, Elizabeth has successfully driven growth in assets across Australia and Brazil. She sits on each Agricultural fund’s investment committee and is a board director of Paraway Pastoral Company Limited, Lawson Grains Pty Limited, Viridis Ag Pty Limited and Cruzeiro do Sul Graos Ltda.

Elizabeth joined Macquarie over 16 years ago and has held a number of senior corporate roles in Australia, Asia and the UK, including as a member of MIRA’s asset management team on several flagship European infrastructure investments. Elizabeth was also integral to the success of several transformational acquisitions for Macquarie Group including the acquisition and transition management of Delaware Asset Management from Lincoln Financial in the United States.

Raised on a rice, wheat and sheep farm in the Riverina region of Australia, Elizabeth has a long association with, and deep knowledge of, agribusiness. This includes an active investment in one of Australia’s largest Angus cattle breeding and genetics companies, and farmland ownership in three states of Australia.

Elizabeth is also a Macquarie Group Foundation committee member.

Phil Peters

Global Head of Client Solutions Group

Phil is responsible for Macquarie Asset Management’s global Client Solutions Group, made up of approximately 220 professionals dedicated to new business initiatives, product development, fund formation, capital raising and client relations across the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

Phil’s extensive experience spans 26 years and encompasses the acquisition, restructuring, disposal and on-going management of a variety of infrastructure assets and boutique investment firms.

Prior to rejoining Macquarie in 2017, Phil enjoyed a 10-year tenure at Challenger Limited in both London and Sydney and was responsible for the establishment of the Fidante Partners multi-boutique platform in Europe. Phil was previously the Head of the European Private Placements Group at Macquarie Group and played a pivotal role in the acquisition of several high profile utilities during this time.

Brett Robson

Head of Real Estate

Brett leads Macquarie Asset Management’s global Real Estate business, which encompasses funds and asset management, platform and direct real estate investment and private capital markets transactions services.

Brett has over 30 years of experience including 18 years in asset management and corporate finance with Macquarie, providing investment and asset management, financial advisory and capital raising services, together with merchant banking investing activities across a broad range of real estate sectors and operating platforms. Prior to Macquarie, Brett spent 12 years at Lendlease where he held senior roles spanning real estate fund, asset and development management.

Martin Stanley

Chairman, Macquarie Asset Management

Martin joined Macquarie in 2004 to support the growth of its international infrastructure funds management platform. Helping to establish and manage Macquarie’s flagship European infrastructure funds, Martin directed a number of landmark transactions for the business, including the acquisition of Thames Water, the largest water and wastewater company in the UK.

Martin was appointed Head of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) in 2010 and led the world’s largest infrastructure manager as it expanded into new sectors, markets and real asset classes. In 2018 he was appointed Head of Macquarie Asset Management (MAM), where he led a team of more than 1,900 people managing over $US420 billion1 of assets on behalf of institutional and wholesale clients around the world.

In April 2021, Martin stepped down as Head of MAM and became Chairman of MAM. He remains on the Investment Committees of MAM’s regional flagship infrastructure funds and is Chairman of the NYSE listed infrastructure fund, Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation (MIC).

Before joining Macquarie, Martin worked for 18-years in the utility and energy sectors. Martin was a senior director at TXU Europe Group, an energy services business involved in generation, supply and trading of electricity and gas. He started his career at Manweb, the regulated power distribution network covering the North West of the United Kingdom.
