Sustainable water treatment
With an annual output of 12 million tons of high-quality recycled water, Hengji Water ensures the stable treatment of sewage and highly polluted wastewater discharged from chemical companies. The company operates a portfolio of two wastewater treatment facilities and one water recycling asset with a total operating capacity of 220k ton/day.
Hengji Water has consistently met and exceeded the national standards for municipal and industrial water treatment. Moreover, by recycling the water for industrial use, the facility is also improving the local ecological environment and preserving valuable water resources in a part of China where this is especially scarce. This commitment to industry standards continued throughout the COVID-19 outbreak when the company was able to provide uninterrupted services to the Dalian community.
A leader in technology
With MAM’s support, Hengji Water has placed a strong emphasis on stable operational management, regular maintenance of equipment and the technological advancements in the treatment of wastewater. Hengji Water has developed over 80 wastewater treatment-led technologies and patents including the 551 Biological Aerated Filter1 which has been recognised as a national environmental protection technology in China2.

Raising industrial standards
Since 2014, and with MAM’s support Hengji Water has run an environmental training school providing specialized training for water plant operators in the region; aiming to raise the industry’s operational efficiency and contribute to a nationwide improvement in water standards. As a result, Hengji is recognised as one of the national industrial wastewater treatment training bases for the chemical industry3 – the only sewage treatment facility in the region to be recognised.
This commitment to education and sustainable business practices has seen Hengji Water receive several awards including Dalian’s top ten environmentally friendly enterprise and Environment Educational Base in Dalian4.
